RECAP: Season One // Faith Over Fear

Let’s catch up and binge on Faith Over Fear Season One…

RECAP: In the first season, we went through the emotions that life often throws at us and how to channel our reactions into looking through God’s lens when it comes to the trials in our life. When we give our circumstances over to a God who knows all, we fully place our trust in Him and build our relationship with Him. He wants this and we need this.  We are human and just can’t do life on our own.

You’ve got TEN days of reading to catch up on, so get to it! Season Two will be here before you know it! You’ll find the links below:

Season One // Day Ten

In the midst of your circumstances, it is easy to allow your human senses to take over your thoughts and actions. You will search for the most logical and rational solution to apply to your problems. You will be restless and you will not have peace about the situation you are facing. You will go from answer to answer looking for the best ones. The worst part is that you will not allow God to see you through to the absolute best outcome for you. You can’t comprehend the plan God has for you because He is preparing you for something years down the road. Something that if you could see through God’s lens, you would say no way! To live an abundant and joyful life, you have to let go and let God do His thing. He knows what’s best and what’s needed and His timing is always perfect. You are commanded not to worry. Your days are already known by the maker of heaven and earth. He is just giving you the chance to experience His love, His grace, and His mercy. He has given you life because He loves you and wants a relationship with you. A chance to know His heart and to fellowship with Him. Once you grasp His perfect love for you, it is enough to acknowledge that you don’t have the answer and place everything in God’s hands because in the end everything is going to be okay. If you are looking through your lens and not God’s spiritual lens, you will miss the small, intricate, and handcrafted details God has so carefully crafted for you.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 10:10-11 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.  “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.’”

Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Heavenly Father, I come to you asking forgiveness for my sins. I believe that you love me so much that you sent your only son, Jesus to die on the cross for me. So I could have an abundant life and experience your goodness and your greatness. I rebuke the thief and the fear he places in my mind. Even though it may not seem like it right now and it’s really hard to believe, but I know you are working something bigger than I could ever comprehend. Thank you for loving me that much and thank you for everything you have done and will do.

  • In what areas of your life has God revealed to you to to let go of your lens and look through His lens?
  • What keeps you from fully trusting God?
  • How can you take steps each day to place your trust in Him?
  • Isn’t it time to fully surrender? Don’t you want abundant life?

All my love,

Once Blind But Now I See: My Journey Through Grief

May Seventeenth. That is a day that often brings sadness as I remember my dad and how he is not here to celebrate his earthly birthday.  I have lived eleven of these days but finally, today is different.

Eleven long years of grief, anger, and pain. Experiencing cycles of feeling nothing at all with complete numbness to heart wrenching and unbearable pain.  Years of screaming at God and telling Him, He didn’t love me so why should I love a God that clearly didn’t love me?  A God that would take my dad away and the chance of redeeming him, healing him and our relationship. I believed the lies the devil told me and chose to remain enclosed and alone in the emotions that came with my grief. I searched for the answers that filled my head and my heart in the wrong places, it did not matter what it came from as long as it was as far away from The One True God as possible.

Eventually, as I realized the broken and dark road I had been running on was just that. A road that led to an endless pit, no life, no hope, and surrounded by a dark sea of nothing. Broken and alone. Wondering how did I get here?

Psalm 34_ 18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

I let go of God and found comfort in the world. But He never let go of me and lead me back to Him.

Each year I embraced the storm. I felt the emotions and I fought my way through them. I was tattered and bruised but I was alive, feeling the pain. I would rather feel than to not feel anything at all.

Each year a little more peace given.

Each year a little piece of my heart mended back together.

Each year a little more light was given in the darkness.

Each year more answers were given to my questions.

Each year a little more wisdom gained.

Eleven years to bring me to My Calling. My purpose.

His life was taken so that I could find mine.

I am not overtaken by an overwhelming sense of grief and I am not overtaken by emotions of pain, anger, and sadness. I am not living in the what-ifs and thinking I wish he was here to see me now, watch my kids grow up, or to have a conversation or one last hug.  I am looking through God’s lens and seeing how everything has worked together for my good, at the right time, and how it was supposed to.  As I look back through God’s lens, and not the lens defined by my human eyes, I can see His hand in the details of my life to bring me to this place in my life.  A place of purpose, a heart filled with love, compassion, and grace.  A heart for Jesus. Whole and healed. Jesus was always there and always had a plan to bring me back home. He never left me in my brokenness.

He replied, _Whether he is a sinner or not, I don't know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!_

I was once blind but now I am found.  Thank you, Jesus, for not giving up on me.

My advice to those of you grieving:  Don’t run. Feel through the emotions and work through them looking through God’s lens.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-14

Season One // Day Nine

Fear is the face of the enemy. The adversary knows that when you see the eyes of the giants you are facing, you will cower to the thoughts in your mind that tell you the answer is impossible. You will find every reason in your mind to believe the enemy because you can make the most sense of the logic.  It is easier to stay within your comfort zone and avoid facing the fear of the what-ifs, the possible failure, and rejection.  Whatever giant you are facing, do not allow the enemy a foothold to entice you with fear.  He has come to steal, kill, and destroy. You must claim God’s promise and become diligent to recognize when the enemy is trying to scare you with the face of fear. God has left us with peace and has commanded us to not be afraid.  The One who has redeemed you has already overcome the world, has called you by name, and has claimed you as His. Enjoy the peace He gives you and heed His command to not fear your giants that are placed in your life.

Step into your fear, face your giants, know that God's plan and purpose are far greater than you can imagine. Click To Tweet

Isaiah 43:1 “Don’t fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine.”

1 John 4:18 Perfect Love Casts Out All Fear

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Heavenly Father, I come to you today and place my giant that is overpowering my mind, my heart, and soul in your hands. I ask that you remove the enemies footholds in my life and remove the fear that he has placed in my mind. I rebuke the enemy in the name of Jesus. Thank you for your promises of sending only peace, for claiming me as yours and calling me by name.  As I place my complete trust and faith in you, show me your ways, O Lord. In Jesus’ Name, I pray Amen.

  • Demonstrating a perfect love for God is key to casting out fear and eradicating it from your mind. By staying IN His word and talking to Him, you learn His heart, His mind, and a perfect love for Him as you begin to acknowledge His perfect love for you. How will you put this into action?
  • He does not give as the world gives. The world gives us the opposite of peace. What steps will you take to acknowledge what the world is giving you when you are facing your giants?
  • How will you move forward through your fear and face your giants?

Faith Over Fear: Season One // Day Eight

Season One // Day Eight

Disappointments. A word that you have experienced and can vividly remember the aftermath. Often you feel that you have been dealt your fair share of disappointments and wonder when a break is coming. When you place your faith and your expectations in people, you are often left down as your expectations are not met. When you get your hopes up for a job you so desperately need, only to find that you didn’t get offered the position; you feel inadequate. When we lift our hopes up for things of the world, you are bound to find disappointments and experience your dreams plummet to the ground in ruins. As ugly as these emotions make you feel, there is nothing wrong with you my child.  You may have had your focus set away from God, but this is the reality: God has something so much better planned for your life. Start trusting God through the disappointments, praise him for what he has protected you from, and what he is preparing for you when it’s time for the harvest. You must face life with the mentality that God already knew about the disappointments you would experience and know that something better is coming.

2 Corinthians 4: 8-9 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;

Isaiah 55:8-9 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”

Roman 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Heavenly Father, I come to you baring all my disappointments and my hurt heart to you. I ask that you repair my mind, heart, and spirit in the only way that you can. I thank you for protecting me from any unknown dangers that I cannot see. I praise you for what you will do in my life as deemed by your perfect will for my life. In the days to come, remind me to place my full focus on you and my complete trust in you LORD.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

  • In what ways is God revealing to you that you have placed your trust in others and not Him?
  • How can you hold yourself accountable and place your complete trust in God?
  • Thank Him for the harvest that is coming! Believe that God has everything worked out for your good regardless of the disappointments you feel now.
  • Remeber that God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours and we just have to place our trust and faith in Him and in all things.
