Being unconventional is a characteristic that most people strive to leave behind. The flesh gives us the desire to fit into society by changing the way we look, how we act, how we dress, and in some cases changing our beliefs.
No one wants to be left out and made fun of because they are different, therefore, we try to conform to the world around us. In return, we exhaust ourselves by trying to subdue who we are and change our identity into someone else.
When we base our life off of these lies, we can expect to lose our true identity and have trouble accepting ourselves for who we are. Not only have we lost ourselves, but we have added layers of this fake person that has to be stripped away.
When these fake layers are stripped away, we may find ourself unaccepted and rejected by your friends but you will find those who accept you for who you are.
It may be painful to have these layers stripped but once they’re off, you will a new and true identity.
You were born to be unconventional, so why not embrace it?
Embrace your curly and frizzy hair, the face with no makeup, the dimples, the scars, the accent, the quirkiness, the bookworm, and the things that make you, YOU!
You are fearfully and wonderfully made just the way you are! God gave you the curly hair and each and every characteristic that you want to change, He created you the way He wanted you and to Him it’s perfect.
Psalm 139:14 | I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Embrace your true self and your identity in Christ, but don’t conform to the likes of those around you. You’ve got places to go and a calling to chase!
Romans 12:2 | Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
After all, we are all created to be different, set apart, and for a specific purpose. There isn’t one person on this planet that is identical to you or has the same purpose as you. Think about that! You were born to be unconventional!
Are you ready to embrace her?
Song of Solomon | You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.
Today, I challenge you to thank God for the frizzy curly hair today and ask Him to help you accept it.
