Y’all. Life is hard and I know you don’t need me to tell you that. We all have a back story and sometimes it’s not all rainbows. I know mine isn’t. If I’m honest with you, it has only been in the last few years that I’ve healed from the pain of my past and the brokenness of my childhood.
Sometimes it’s hard to realize the truth when we are hurting and/or living in the past. Maybe for you, it’s the present. I hope you know that it’s okay to be at this point in your life. It’s okay to hurt and it’s okay to be angry but one thing I want you to remember: He is there with you in every dark moment. Life wasn’t meant to be easy but I wouldn’t trade my experiences for anything because it has made me who I am. All the experiences (good and bad) have brought me to this very moment in my relationship with Jesus that has taken on a whole new meaning. Whatever the reason is for, I welcome it because His purpose is greater and the peace He gives is intoxicatingly beautiful.
God’s Word even tells us in John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
He has overcome the world and that includes each of our good, bad and ugly moments. The battle has already been won. Your battle already has an ending and through Him, you will be victorious.
There is power in His name and there is sweet redemption. Just call on Him, grab His hand and don’t let go. Sometimes He is just waiting on us to acknowledge that we do need Him and Him alone. We go through trials and God uses these experiences to refine us and get us ready for our next chapter. We just can’t stay stuck in a chapter that needs to be closed. Sometimes we stay too long and it may feel impossible to find your way but it’s never too late! We try to hard at life and we need to just be and let God do what we can’t. If you are reading this, my prayer for you is that God will make Himself as real as the clouds and birds in the sky and that it can not be denied.
Psalm 4:8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
As I listen to my boys peaceful breathing as they sleep, I can’t help but to give thanks to Jesus for the peace and wholeness that He surrounds us with. Even though life throws ugliness at you, you can beautifully withstand the trials with Him. No matter what you are going through, stand firm in your faith, forgive those who hurt you and above all love them and cling to Jesus with every fiber of your being. We just have to do our best for Him and no matter what we face, rest will come easy and a peace like no other.
One of my most favorite Bible verses is Jeremiah 29:11.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
I have lived through the unknown of what my future held by holding on to Jesus and faith through it all. Some days it was a thread about to snap. God got us through the storm that led us to a holler that has been such a beautiful journey. What’s coming next? I have no idea but I know that God has plans for us. Plans that are more than my wildest dreams are made up of. I know that His plans are catered to every fiber of my being and every desire of my heart while making sure that His best is intertwined through every detail. Amazing and life changing things happen when you allow Him to work in your life. We may not get an instant answer or change that we are looking for but we can count on Jesus to make sure all of our unknowns are taken care of and every detail is taken care of.
After all, He is already there and already knows the plans. Give Him time to work out all the details and wait for His best. It’s worth it, I promise!
I have hope and a future and so do you so claim it! What are you waiting for?
Ever since moving to the holler and not having access to a Chick Fil A, I’ve been wanting their chicken a lot! However, we recently had an express Chick Fil A open but it’s just not the same.
So, what do I do? I make Chick Fil A copycat chicken tenders. After all, why waste the pickle juice?
I searched around for some recipes and decided on this:
I started by marinating a pound of chicken tenders in pickle juice for 8 hours. You could taste the pickles and I loved it! Some recipes called for 20 minutes of marinating time so depending on your love hate relationship with pickles I would adjust the marinating time to fit your taste buds.
Later that day I continued with mixing 2 large eggs with a cup of milk and in a separate bowl mix 2 cups of flour with 1 tablespoon of paprika, 1 tablespoon of pepper and 1/2 tablespoon of garlic salt. You can do just salt if you don’t like garlic.
Drain the chicken and pat dry with a paper towel.
Next you want to heat Crisco in your pan (just enough to half way cover the chicken). While that’s getting hot, begin coating the chicken in the milk mixture and then in the flour mixture. Repeat until all of your pieces are coated and ready for the frying pan.
Fry until golden brown or in my case a smokey kitchen. Oooopie daisy!
I thought this recipe was extremely close to tasting like Chick Fil A and I will probably fry my chicken like this from now on! Pretty soon I am going to have my own Chick Fil A stand in this holler.
Whatever you are going through, it will fade just like the grass and flowers. Sometimes we are too caught up in our circumstances to see Him in our daily lives but there is good news. His word will never fade and neither will His love for you! It’s always in bloom.
